8th Annual Just Read, Florida! K-12 Leadership Conference - CancelledMessage from Dr. Evan Lefsky, Executive Director, Just Read, Florida!I regret to inform you that due to extreme budget concerns at the Florida Department of Education, the 2009 Just Read, Florida! K-12 Leadership Conference, scheduled for June 28 through July 1, 2009, has been cancelled. We have been fortunate enough to host this conference for seven consecutive years, and while we are disappointed, we recognize that the funds targeted for the conference are needed to support other critical educational needs.It has been a pleasure being with you and learning from you at past conferences, and I value and appreciate your continued commitment to the goals of Just Read, Florida! Thank you again for all that you do each and every day to support literacy in your schools. For those of you who submitted a proposal to present, I encourage you to share your presentations locally. There were some very exciting entries! Please be assured that we will still be honoring our literacy leaders as planned, and they will be recognized in an event this summer.
